We've made the switch to low energy lighting.

Our office on Hoddesdon High Street is an old building, and we still had old-fashioned fluorescent lighting.

We’ve switched all the bulbs to LEDs. This has cut our energy use from lights in half.

It’s also saves us a minimum of £7,000 per year – which we can now spend on other works for our customers.

15% of your electricity bill could come from your lights.

Next time a light bulb goes, you can save at least £2-3 on your bills a year if you replace it with an LED bulb instead. It could be more depending on the bulb you had before.

Tip: if you want it to still ‘feel’ like a traditional light, buy a “warm” colour bulb. It’s less sharp.

How we’re saving energy

We have bold ambitions to cut the energy we use as a business, do our bit to protect our local environment and help customers save on their bills.

Sometimes, this means big projects – for example:

• Our Cosy Homes project covering 260 homes.
• Our Warm Front project, thermal scanning all our homes.
• Switching to hybrid vans.

Other times, it’s about taking lots of small steps like:

• Fitting water saving devices in empty homes.
• Fitting kitchen recycling bins in new and empty homes.
• Setting up our Green Panel.
• Cutting down our trips to suppliers, so vans use less fuel.
