Independent Audit & Risk Committee Member – Treasury
B3Living | Hertfordshire
Remuneration: £3,000 per annum
Location: Hertfordshire

B3Living provides over 6,000 homes across Broxbourne and the surrounding areas, with a strong commitment to delivering high-quality housing, investing in existing homes and supporting thriving communities. The organisation continues to balance ambitious investment priorities with the need to maintain strong financial performance, effective risk management and robust governance.

As B3Living progresses its strategic objectives, the Audit & Risk Committee plays an important role in ensuring the organisation operates within a strong financial and regulatory framework. The appointment of an Independent Committee Member with treasury expertise will strengthen the Committee's collective knowledge and provide additional independent scrutiny of financial risks and long-term funding arrangements.

As an Independent Audit & Risk Committee Member, you will work alongside existing Committee members and senior leaders to provide independent oversight, constructive challenge and specialist financial insight.

A particular focus will be bringing treasury expertise to the Committee, supporting effective scrutiny of funding arrangements, financial risk and the organisation's long-term financial sustainability. You will contribute to discussions around treasury strategy, debt management, liquidity, financial covenants and the management of financial exposures, ensuring that the Committee is appropriately informed when assessing risks and strategic decisions.

Alongside this specialist contribution, you will support the Committee in overseeing the effectiveness of B3Living's internal controls, risk management processes and internal and external audit arrangements. This will include reviewing financial reporting and annual accounts, evaluating organisational risks and ensuring that appropriate governance and assurance frameworks are in place.

You will also contribute to the wider effectiveness of the Committee, supporting its Chair, working collaboratively with senior colleagues and ensuring that decisions align with B3Living's strategic objectives, regulatory obligations and commitment to delivering value for residents.

This is an independent committee appointment and does not involve membership of B3Living's main Board.

We are seeking an experienced treasury or finance professional with the technical expertise and strategic judgement to contribute effectively to an Audit & Risk Committee.

You will bring significant experience in treasury management, ideally gained within social housing or another regulated, capital-intensive environment. A strong understanding of debt financing, funding structures, liquidity management, financial covenants and treasury-related risk will be particularly valuable.

You may currently be working, or have previously worked, in a senior treasury, finance or corporate funding position, with experience of advising executive teams, Boards or governance committees on complex financial matters.

Alongside your treasury expertise, you will demonstrate an understanding of financial governance, risk management and internal controls, together with the analytical skills to interpret complex financial information and identify areas requiring further scrutiny.

You will be confident in asking challenging questions, exercising independent judgement and contributing constructively to collective decision-making. An appreciation of the regulatory and financial environment facing housing associations, together with a commitment to strong governance and organisational accountability, will be important.

Above all, you will share B3Living's values and understand the importance of maintaining financial resilience to support the delivery of safe, affordable homes and high-quality services to residents.

This is an opportunity to contribute specialist expertise to a values-led housing association with a clear commitment to responsible financial management, sustainable investment and positive outcomes for its communities.

B3Living is delivering an ambitious programme of investment in existing homes, developing new affordable housing and responding to the financial and regulatory challenges facing the sector. The Audit & Risk Committee has a vital role in providing assurance that these ambitions are supported by effective governance, sound financial controls and a considered approach to risk.

You will join an established Committee and have the opportunity to contribute your knowledge and experience to decisions that support the organisation's long-term success. The appointment also provides an opportunity to support continuity of treasury expertise within the Committee as its membership evolves.
