We've transformed an old garage site into new affordable homes.
Six new affordable homes have been built in Barrow Lane, Cheshunt, transforming an area previously occupied by disused garages. After years of significant anti‑social behaviour and fly‑tipping, the site has been revitalised into a safe and welcoming place for local people to call home.
The new development will provide high‑quality housing for up to 14 residents across one two‑bedroom home and five one‑bedroom homes. Offered at affordable rent to those on the local housing waiting list, the scheme brings much‑needed housing options to the community while making good use of empty land.
Through community consultation, nearby residents highlighted priorities such as privacy, security and the importance of maintaining a well‑used access route, all of which influenced the final design.
Supported by a grant from Broxbourne Council and Homes England, the opening of the Barrow Lane development demonstrates our strong partnership as we work to meet rising demand for affordable housing in the borough.
B3Living’s Executive Director (Development), Jon Hayden, commented:
We’re very proud to have worked with Broxbourne Council once again to support our community with these new homes at Barrow Lane.
It is excellent to transform a disused area into a secure and attractive environment for local people.
Our aim is to start building 400 new homes by 2027, and we’re committed to ensuring they meet the needs of our customers and communities.
Cabinet Member for Community and Housing, Cllr Dee Hart, said:
I am delighted to see the Barrow Lane development open its doors, providing much needed affordable homes for our residents as part of a wider programme of significant developments across the borough.
