Maintaining communal garden areas

Maintaining communal garden areas

Tuesday, 04 April 2023

With the weather warming up and summer just around the corner, we’re all keen to get outside and enjoy the outdoors. This time of year, we often get a lot of questions about garden maintenance and when we will be round to cut the grass, prune back the trees and do some maintenance on your lovely outdoor areas.

So… we thought it might be helpful to explain how it all works.

All the grounds maintenance we do (trees/shrubs) is on a schedule.

So if you’re thinking “that could do with a tidy up” – please bear with us, we’re making our way down to you as soon as we can.

You won’t need to contact us if it’s about a general tidy up, but if it’s a health and safety issue, please let us know as this will be prioritised. If you're struggling or concerned about the maintenance of your own garden, please get in touch. We know a few agencies who may be able to help or support.

It's been a busy couple of years - but we really appreciate your patience as get back on top of things.

See below for more about our different grounds maintenance services....

Grass cutting

Grass cutting is something we often get enquiries about - and rightly so.

On most of our estates, our contractor for grass cutting is CGM Group. They will be making their way around to you very soon.

They started working with us on 3rd April 2023, following customer consultation.

One more thing! CGM Group don't cover all of our Independent Living schemes - so if you're living in a scheme, please get in touch if you're unsure.

Trees

You may not know this, but if a tree is in your garden, this would be up to you to maintain if you can. However, if you're struggling - we may be able to put you in touch with an agency that can help.

If the tree is in a communal area and on our land, this is our job to maintain and we’ll be round to tidy it up as soon as we can on our schedule.

Sometimes we have to avoid trimming trees during bird nesting season (March-August).

Shrubs

We work our way round shrubs 3 x times a year. We start from the north of the Borough and work our way down… then start all over again!

So if you’re waiting for your shrubs to be done, don’t worry – we’re working our way down to you now.

During the summer months, we will trim larger hedges and remove ivy where is a health and safety issue, but generally, we will focus on reducing hedges.

If you would like to find out where our team is currently at with the schedule, drop us a call and we can give you more details.
